Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ)

  1. Q.Are donations made to Light of Life Ministry tax deductible?
A.Yes, as LOLM was granted an IRC 501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service in June 2006, allowing all gifts and donations to be tax deductible.
  2. Q.What is the main purpose for the existence of Light of Life Ministry?
A.I would refer you to the information under About Light of Life Ministry to provide an answer to your question. If this information does not provide an adequate answer, you are welcome to email the ministry with a more specific question.
  3. Q.My church teaches that a person who is saved cannot lose their salvation. What is your position on eternal security?
A.This is an important question, and deserves a more complete answer than room will allow here. I suggest that you read the article on Calvinism vs. Arminianism found in the Articles section on this site. This article will give you the differences between these two interpretations of the sovereignty of God and will explain why I am an Arminian. It will also reveal that every believer can have eternal security, but that the doctrine often referred to as "once saved, always saved" is really outside both the Calvinist (Reformed) and Arminian theological positions.
  4. Q.What is the official position of your ministry on Jesus' Second Coming?
A.I will quote our position as is found in our Statement of Faith found on this web-site: We believe in the physical and imminent return of Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords, and this return to be soon. While this ministry believes and teaches the premillennial position concerning Christ's reign and the pretribulational rapture of the Church, we acknowledge this is not a salvation issue, and allow for others to hold differing views with no need for the breaking of fellowship.
  5. Q.In your March - April 2007 issue of your newsletter, The Illuminator, you take the position that Jesus was crucified on a Thursday (see feature article titled, Jesus - the Passover Lamb of God). Have you ever considered Wednesday as a possibility for the crucifixion?
    A. Yes, I have considered Wednesday, and understand the reasons and concerns of those who hold to that day. However, in my booklet titled, Jesus and the Passion Week, I detail the reasons why both Friday and Wednesday are ruled out as the day of Christ's crucifixion. I would encourage you to obtain a copy of this booklet as it gives much information that I believe you would find to be interesting (see Publications). However, for the time being, just go to Luke 24:13-31 and read the story of Jesus on the Road to Emmaus with two of His disciples. Now, look closely at verse 21. This conversation between the two disciples and the risen Christ occurred late in the day (verse 29, "abide with us; for it is toward evening…") on the same day as the women had gone to the tomb (Sunday, the first day of the week). And it was plainly stated, "…today is the third day since these things were done." If Sunday afternoon is the third day, then there is no way the crucifixion was on Wednesday, for then Sunday afternoon would be the fourth day.
  6. Q.Your newsletter carries a "Creation" article. Do you totally reject evolution?
A.Yes!!! Totally, completely, absolutely, and unequivocally, YES! Evolution is a doctrine of demons: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils…(I Timothy 4:1). It is this seducing doctrine that has played havoc with our society, our culture, and even our churches. Evolution plays no purpose but to attempt to explain God's marvelous creation without God. It is a theory developed by men who do not want to be accountable to a holy God. It is not fact, it is not truth, and it is not even good common sense! I know, because I was once a Theistic evolutionist. I even tried the Gap Theory for awhile. But praise God I was delivered from all of these attempts to ignore the plain teaching of the only person who was actually there - Jehovah God. Genesis is not a book of allegory, but a book of history. God has told us exactly how the worlds came into existence - through His Word! We were created from the dust of the earth, and God breathed into us His Spirit of life, and we became living beings. You and I have not evolved from anything. We were created in the image of God, and sin has corrupted and distorted that image. Jesus has come to restore the image of God in all who will believe. Only Jesus, as both God and man, has died for sin and been resurrected. That is why He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). If you are sincerely seeking the truth about evolution versus creation, I strongly encourage you to go to the web-sites www.answersingenesis.org and www.icr.org. Here you will discover the truth!
  7. Q.Do you think that Jesus and Christianity is the only "correct" religion? Do you believe that everyone else is wrong?
A.This question is often asked by people who do not really understand why as a true Christian we do, and in fact must, believe that Jesus is the only way for salvation. I will refer you to a couple of articles related to this subject that I hope you will read. But before I do, let me give you three brief reasons why my answer to your question is "YES!"
    1. If Jesus is who He claims to be then He cannot lie. Jesus plainly stated in John 14:6, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the Father except by Me." You must ask yourself, "Is Jesus who He claimed to be?" This is a yes or no question! There cannot be any of that, "Well, I believe he was a good man, but not the Son of God." It is impossible to be "a good man" and intentionally be a liar, deceiving millions of people. Jesus is either Lord, Liar, or Lunatic. I choose to believe He is Lord!
    2. I believe Jesus is who He claimed to be, the Son of God and God the Son. He alone is the incarnation of deity, and He alone has the ability to pay for my sin. It is sin that separates us from the Father, and there is nothing I can do to solve my sin problem without Jesus. There is no other person who has ever lived, or who will ever live, that can pay the debt of God's declared punishment for sin and to die in my place, except God Himself through His Son. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
    3. God's Word clearly warns that "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Proverbs 14:12). The Christian God is a holy God. He hates sin, but He loves His creation - mankind. Because of His love for us He devised a plan whereby He could judge sin, yet save the sinner. Jesus took our sin to the cross of Calvary. "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). This is God's plan, not man's. All other religions are the "ways of men." They may seem right to a person, but the end is the way of death! For more on this subject see, "Is Jesus Christ the Only Way" and "Salvation - Truth You Should Know" both found in the Articles section of this site. I would also recommend that you obtain the booklet, Not Sure about Jesus, found in the Publications section
